Sacred Spaces 327 – Barefoot
10 April 2012
Today is One day without shoes 2012
Watch the idea/concept/cause here:
I am not wearing shoes today, and I just rode my bicycle to this coffee shop, feeling the sharp and hard pedals under my feet along they way and now this cold floor; I remember on Sunday, God gave me the idea to right about FEET. (By the way, it’s really good to be writing publically again)
Psalm 22: 16 “… a band of evil men encircled me; they have pierced my hands and my FEET.”
Many years before His death the Psalmist spoke of the details of Jesus’ crucifixion; and using our imagination, we “travel back” those years and see Jesus, hanging on the cross for our sins. (We know our sins lead to death.) I am grateful for those pierced feet in front of me.
Those feet that walked the dusty roads of Israel and Judah.
Those feet of the One who brought healing, hope and help.
Those feet that brought the good news. God sees us. God cares for us. God will and does SAVE His people.
Psalm 40: 2 “He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my FEET on a rock.”
Life is hard. I am sure you have figured that out already. Life is full of “pits and mud”
We get stuck.
We get down.
YET God lifts us out.
Our Saviour reaches out His hand. He reaches out His life.
Psalm 119: 105 “Your word is a lamp unto my FEET and a light unto my path.”
Oh, how I love to see what the future holds. I ask God, “What does Darrel look like when he is 35 or when I am 40?” (I really don’t know what I will be doing.)
I feel God reminding me of this verse above.
I need to look at the immediate path I am on and “walk” that well.
The people God has surrounded me with now. Invest and build the kingdom with them.
Romans 10: 15 “And how can they preach unless they have been sent? As it is written, ‘how beautiful are the FEET of those who bring good news.’”
What sort of FEET do you have?
When you step into school or varsity (uni)
When you walk along the corridors of your office
When you walk along the beach, feeling the sand squeeze between your toes
When you walk in a mall
When you walk towards your car
Are your FEET carrying a person who brings hope and good news?
I keep asking myself, when last did I: tell someone about Jesus? Tell someone about the life found in God?
John 12: 3 “Then Mary took a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ FEET and wiped his FEET with her hair.”
He said her story will be told for all the ages to come.
Oh how has it has been told
I have heard many sermons
I have heard various theologies and themes.
This act of worship was been shared so often
How is your worship of You Saviour?
How is your heart aligned?
Let’s walk on and change the world for Him.
One step at a time
Let’s leave FOOTPRINTS of good news and grace everywhere we go.
Feet on this cold ground
Remembering Your people
Who have no choice
Never let me become
In ways you’ve called me to
