Sacred Spaces 330 – One day, one step, keep on keeping on
3 May 2012
I find myself in Glenwood, a smallish suburb of Durban. Nice to be writing my Sacred Spaces in a new venue; sweet chilled tunes in the background… an arty vibe here…
Been thinking about this SS over the last 3 days; and how to word it in what I want to say… with what I feel the lesson is that He has taught me recently.
The familiar imagery of a tapestry comes to mind.
What I remember hearing when I was younger, is that on the one side of the tapestry, one sees all the weaving intertwined and thread in and out. (Not good at this terminology here)
However on the main side of the tapestry, one sees the stunning picture or image on the tapestry. The artistry displayed in creative splendour.
I was taught that is what our lives are like. In Ephesians 2: 10 we are told that God is creating a masterpiece in our lives.
“For we are God’s masterpiece; He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
A tapestry is not made in one day. Neither was Rome (I thought I would throw that in…)
– Have one meal and be sustained forever.
– Have one Math lesson and know everything about Mathematics
– Have one soccer/football practice and be the best player ever
– Hear one sermon (bible study lesson) and know everything about the Christian life.
Life takes time. (I know this seems pretty obvious)
Yet this is what I feel God has taught me.
A struggle I have is when living in the current “chapter” of my life… I tend to wonder and think about the one to come…
In your work place
In your family
In your school or college or university
In your whole life
A masterpiece is being made. Yet it takes time…
Why you may ask; what’s with being made into a masterpiece?
Our lives will reflect God. And the world needs the light and love of God.
Living here on planet earth (like that terminology), we realise that is very true.
Things are broken, people are hurt and situations need healing…
Life is longing to be restored.
Will you let God create in your life?
And will you ask Jesus to show you how you can “create” and bring restoration in other’s lives.
Because God has given us that honour to help His cause, bringing His kingdom here:
So I will eat many meals to nourish me.
I will exercise daily to keep fit.
I will teach 100 bible studies, even 365 youth lessons, and know that… all that is helping to:
“Build something” that God has in mind for the hearers…
So this is yet another Sacred Space that I have written; my simple prayer is that God uses it to add to the tapestry of even one person’s life…
Jeremy Camp put it this way:
“One Day At A Time”
One day at a time i will walk this road i’ve traveled so far
One day at a time well i know i will carry on
One day at a time i can see you took my life this far
One day at a time I will take this faith along
All this hope i breathe is given by the hand that carries me
Until I’m complete and i’ll take all i will
To understand this plan you have for me, for me
(Thanks for reading)
I want to jump 1000 steps ahead
When you take my hand
Leading me one by one
Some of the most beautiful things
Are created slowly
Make me whole
Lost in Beautiful You
