I wasn’t sure what I could write about. Then this scripture came to mind. This is one part of God’s CV. And this is just a small piece of who He is… and yet its mind blowing.
Will you pause and consider this “CV” of God?
“Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood since the earth was founded?
22 He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers.
He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in.
23 He brings princes to naught and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing.
24 No sooner are they planted, no sooner are they sown, no sooner do they take root in the ground, than he blows on them and they wither, and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff.
“To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?” says the Holy One.
26 Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.
27 Why do you complain, Jacob? Why do you say, Israel,
“My way is hidden from the Lord; my cause is disregarded by my God”?
28 Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40: 21 – 31)
I often make God to small. I sometimes doubt Him.
But seriously how foolish I can be?
Look at this, read above:
Creation is the best witness of God’s power and majesty.
All of life and things on earth will fade and come to an end, but God is above it.
Vs 25 asks a potent question: Whom will we compare God to? Nothing compares.
And we are grateful for what God has revealed of Himself to us, yet verse 28 reminds us: His understanding no one can fathom. We must remember that and let God be God.
And all this power that comes from Him, is available to us. If we put our hope in Him… we will soar like eagles.
Stop there!! Think about that image… have you seen the beauty and serenity of an eagle soaring? If you’ve seen that in real life (or even in a documentary) you will know what that imagery is about. (I think we’re silly quite often when we don’t add our keen imagination and senses when we read scripture.) – don’t pass over imageries like that. God may be telling you something through the picture too; and not just the words.
We have renewed strength in Him.
So If God was “applying for the job” to look after your heart, would you let Him have the position?
Untie the blindfold
I have on my heart and eyes
I see so little of Your power,
Because I am stubborn
Big up this heart.
