Sacred Spaces 362– Looking for a new year’s aspiration or resolution?
9 January 2013

It’s true I think a lot. Sometimes, I wish I could think less and live more. Hmmm, now that sounds like a good aspiration for this year.

You start this year, thinking about what resolutions you could have… may I help?
Tucked away in an abbey, Westminster in London; there are these profound words based on a study of scripture:

“The chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.”

How true is that!? Imagine, how our lives would look if we set that as our new year’s resolution and aspiration?
Life and fun and love and beauty is God’s idea. Please don’t be surprised by that… of course we can enjoy Him.
Or maybe you want some more soaked exactly in scripture?

Matt 6: 33 “Seek first His Kingdom and all His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.”

Or how about the greatest commandments that Jesus spoke of: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind / love your neighbour as you love yourself.”

So we could not enter this year, saying we have no inspiration or guiding? Nonsense!

I know if we set our lives to these aspirations… we would see a lot of change.

So, how about it?

As a yacht with no sail
Can’t go far
God, would you be my sail
Lead me this year
Through all the seas
So I can see stunning sunsets and sunrises.
